“I consider myself fortunate to have studied with Chris and Dorothy. Quiet, thoughtful, inquiring and open-minded, they lead the class in a gentle yet rigorous exploration of yoga. Their personalities complement each other well and enrich their teachings, and they take every opportunity to bring in guest experts and widen the curriculum to include the latest in yoga-related knowledge while never losing sight of yoga’s foundations. Above all, they teach with deep integrity.”

Christine Morita Clancy: Primary Faculty
Chris began the practice of hatha yoga in 1990 and taught her first classes in 1992. She began teaching in earnest after beginning the SOYA Yoga Teacher Training Program in 1998. Chris focuses on the fundamentals of body alignment, rooting and approaching yoga with humility and invites her students to move inward, exploring body, breath and mind as they practice yoga. Dedicated to yoga as a life practice, Chris helps her students uncover the ‘living’ yoga by moving beyond the physical reward toward an inward journey that extends long after class is over.
Chris is certified with SOYA, the International Yoga Teachers Association (IYTA) and is registered with the Yoga Alliance (ERYT500) and Vijnana Yoga International.
Independent SOYA Faculty
SOYA Yoga Teacher Training students also complete hatha yoga training with Indepedent SOYA Faculty outside of the regular teacher training meetings. RYS500 students require 160 hours and RYS300 upgrade students require 61 hours. This enables each student to work with certified teachers and mentors of their choice and in their chosen specialty. There are Independent SOYA Faculty members in and around Vancouver and throughout BC and Alberta and as far away as the USA, Mexico and Norway. If your chosen mentor is not a faculty member, please forward your recommendation.
