Yoga Teacher Certification
Students receive SOYA Yoga Teacher Certification upon graduation. Our graduates teach at studios, community centres, conferences and independently throughout BC and Alberta, elsewhere in Canada, and as far away as the US, Mexico and Norway SOYA certification is recognized by the Yoga Alliance, the International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA), the Yoga Association of BC (YABC) and insurance companies throughout the country.
Graduates are encouraged both become registered yoga teachers with Yoga Alliance and to challenge the IYTA exams.
Yoga Alliance
Yoga Alliance accepts registration from all SOYA graduates.
International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA) Certification
Each student who graduates from the SOYA Yoga Teacher Training Program at the 500 hour level will be fully prepared to write the International Yoga Teachers’ Association (IYTA) exam in order to become a certified International Teacher of Yoga. To qualify to write the IYTA exam, each graduate from the SOYA Teacher Training Program must have 3 years of teaching experience. This International Certification is not necessary, but can be a great asset to your credentials and brings you into a community of hundreds of other Internationally Certified Yoga Teachers around the world! Your SOYA Teachers are able to recommend you for this certification, and Marion (Mugs) McConnell, the Director of the SOYA Teacher Training, is the Canadian Representative of the International Yoga Teachers’ Association. She will arrange for your certification.
